National organic organizations

Organic Federation of Canada (OFC)
The national organization which represents the organic sector to the federal government on matters of regulation of the industry. The OFC is officially responsible for naming the members of the Standards Interpretation Committee.

 

Canadian Organic Growers
Canada’s national organic farmer and consumer association.

 

Canada Organic Trade Association
The membership-based association for the organic sector in Canada: representing growers, processors, certifiers, provincial farmers’​ associations, importers, exporters, retailers and others throughout the organic value chain.

 

Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada
Based out of Dalhousie University, the OACC facilitates and leads research and education supporting organic producers, consumers and other organic stakeholders to foster sustainable communities.

Organic Alberta
Established in 2005, Organic Alberta represents all 570 organic producers and processors in Alberta as well as 100+ businesses across the organic community.

 

SaskOrganics
A farmer-led membership non-profit organization, serving all certified organic entities throughout the value chain in Saskatchewan.

 

Manitoba Organic Alliance
A membership-driven, non-profit association which unites and represents organic farmers, processors, buyers, retailers and researchers in Manitoba.

 

Growers of Organic Food Yukon
Promotes organic practices and provides support, education, and advocacy about organic growing and processing in the Yukon.

 

Organic Council of Ontario
A membership-based non-profit association that represents Ontario’s organic sector at both the provincial and national level.

A non-profit organization dedicated to the development of Quebec’s organic sector.

 

Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network
From seed to farmer to consumer, ACORN is a network and resource for all Atlantic Canadians interested in organic food and agriculture.

 

PEI Certified Organic Producers Cooperative
A member-based organization composed of certified organic farmers and others who wish to strengthen the organic voice to affect changes in practices and policies on PEI.

International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM)
Founded in 1972, IFOAM – Organics International is a membership-based organization working to bring true sustainability to agriculture across the globe.

 

International Organic Inspectors Association (IOIA)
The professional organization of organic inspectors, offering training and networking world-wide for crop, livestock, and processing inspectors.

 

Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI)
Supports organic integrity by developing clear information and guidance about materials, so that producers know which products are appropriate for organic operations.

 

Organic Trade Association (OTA)
A membership-based business association for organic agriculture and products in the United States.
