Introducing Organic BC: Cultivate Something Good

As British Columbia’s organic sector continues to grow, the Certified Organic Associations of British Columbia (COABC) is excited to announce we are now officially Organic BC. Our vision is to create a more inclusive, collaborative organic sector in the province and continue to work together to build healthy soil, food, people and communities. 

Organic BC will continue to grow the organic movement in the province from the ground up by supporting and engaging organic certifiers and farmers, helping interested farmers make the switch to organic, and enabling informed consumer choices. As Organic BC, we will also continue to advocate on behalf of our members and the organic community for a strong, resilient organic sector. 

The new Organic BC website is built with community in mind and includes new tools for organic farmers, prospective organic farmers, consumers, and anyone looking to learn more about what it means to be organic. It features a province-wide organic directory and connects users to educational events and job openings. As well, it offers the latest information and resources on organic agriculture, certification and opportunities to get involved and help shape the sector. 

“Organizations like Organic BC play a key role in the growing success of Canada’s agricultural sector. Their renewed on-line community and tools will help connect B.C.’s organic growers and future organic growers, enabling them to bring more fresh, local, organic foods to the tables of Canadians,” said the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.

“Organic BC is a comprehensive resource for British Columbians looking for information and support about farming, growing and purchasing organic foods and beverages,” said B.C. Minister of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, Lana Popham. “I’m grateful Organic BC is going to continue to build those connections and relationships between farmers and consumers, as well as supporting the people and businesses that put fresh, local food on our tables, and support food security and jobs in our communities.”

Organic BC has a strong voice that will continue to advocate for organics and its economic, environmental and social benefits, and connect and align producers, consumers and supporters around the principles of organics for a better food system, and a better world.”
