Transitioning 1,200 Acres to Organic – Sebastian Farms

Kurt Simcic of Sebastian Farms, the operational arm of Von Mandl Family Estates wineries in Kelowna, was tasked with the mission of transitioning all their vineyards (1,200 acres!) from conventional farming practices to certified organic starting in 2017. He shares the transition process and the challenges and benefits he’s seen since doing so, and dives deeper into their philosophy around soil health and their latest approach towards regenerative agriculture.
