DESCRIPTION:Why share land? The number of farmers in B.C. has been declining for several decades\, and thousands of local farms have disappeared. Farm operators are ageing out of farming and retiring\, but with the cost of farmland at an all-time high\, many new farmers can’t afford to buy land and continue their legacy. That’s why the B.C. Land Matching Program exists\, and our annual educational land sharing workshops offer an opportunity for farmers and landholders to connect with each other and learn how to share land. \nJoin Ve-Jane (Metro Vancouver-Fraser Valley Land Matcher) to learn how you can access land for farming or make your land available to a farmer. Ve-Jane will guide you through a self-assessment activity to help you create an action plan for your own land sharing journey. If you’re exploring farming as a potential career\, this course offers the perfect starting point. \nThis 4-week program is open to anyone interested in farming\, no prior experience required! It’s also a great opportunity for those new to Canada to learn the basics of farming in northern climates. \nWHEN: November 6-27\, 2025 with live sessions on Thursday evenings: 5–7 pm Pacific Time\, 6–8 pm Mountain Time\, 7–9 pm Central Time\, 8–10 pm Eastern Time\, 9–11 pm Atlantic Time. \nCOST: The suggested sliding scale cost is $100–$200\, which is $25–$50 per session.
