SUMMARY:Building Healthy Soils with No-Till\, Cover Cropping and Rotational Grazing
DESCRIPTION:On October 3rd\, head to Rafter P Ranch in Merritt for a hands-on day of learning\, connection\, and practical insights into regenerative ranching and soil health. \nThis field day will highlight no-till seeding\, multi-species cover cropping\, bale grazing techniques\, and fencing for rotational grazing—all practical tools to improve yields\, reduce weeds\, build healthier soils\, and strengthen livestock management. \nOur hosts\, ranchers Nelson & Danielle Patry\, will be on hand to discuss their first-hand experience with these tools and techniques including the challenges they have faced and the benefits they have experienced. \nAlso\, hear from: \n\nRegional Agrologist Emma Holmes on soil biology and nutrient cycling\nRyan Comeau\, agrologist and seed sales representative from Covers and Co. on multi-species mixes\nGrazing Mentor Julia Smith from the Small-Scale Meat Producers Association who will discuss rotational grazing\, bale grazing and demonstrate some useful electric fencing tools & techniques\n\nThis event is free and open to anyone interested\, but registration is required.
